HumanOps - Ethics in Technology

Details
Some of the best parts of any community are the people we meet, the conversations we have and the things we learn from each other.
Join us for this meet up where we foster & facilitate these.
We'll start with a talk from Sam Warner on "Ethics in Technology", moving on to a [lean coffee] (http://leancoffee.org/) format where we, in small groups, discuss ideas from Sam's talk, HumanOps principles (https://gist.github.com/morekid/b0d7b2571fdba88f809bc48b0b7d4762#file-humanops-mantra-rst) or anything you're currently working on or experiencing yourself.
Here is the plan with (infeasibly precise) timings.
18:00 - Food & drinks
If you feel uncomfortable during this "mingling" / "networking" part of meetups, you're not alone (I do). We'd love for you to come and talk with us about making it easier.
19:00 - Welcome - Hannah Foxwell
A quick introduction to HumanOps for the new faces in the crowd
19:10 - Morality and Ethics in Tech - Caring is Everything - Sam Warner
In recent times, we have seen scandals across our profession. Cambridge Analytica, Volkswagen, Uber, to name but a few. As software and systems become more easily accessible and widespread, we must endeavour to make software for the good of everyone.
In both development and in operations we are one of the first (and somewhat surprisingly, one of the final) lines of defence against writing and shipping unethical code that in some cases can ruin lives. By encouraging diverse teams, different approaches to testing and feasibility, and sometimes just saying 'no', we can make a huge difference to the world.
Sam is a recent graduate of the University of Warwick, now working as a software developer for a consultancy.
19:30 - Introduction to LeanCoffee
19:35 - LeanCoffee discussion groups
20:30 - Head home or continue your conversations at the pub
If you want to turn up late or leave early, it's no problem. We've put the end time as 20:30, but feel free to carry on our conversations at Kobalt or the pub

** The day **
Thank you Kobalt for having us!
There is step-free access from the street. If you would like a hand getting in from outside or across the road from Cannon Street Station, please message me and someone will wait for you wherever you like.
Internal access is mainly via lifts. If you don't want to use the lifts, please message me and we can arrange access via stairs.
There are accessible and non-gendered toilets, we'll point these out and signpost them on the day.
