Ever stood at a restaurant menu, completely overwhelmed, and just pointed at something random hoping for the best?
This one's for you.

For our second Hungry & Curious walk, we're diving into another region of Indian food: not just eating it, but actually understanding it. Where dishes come from. What makes them authentic. How to read a menu like someone who knows what they're doing. And yes, how to figure out the spice situation before it's too late.

How it works:
We visit 2 Indian restaurants in Leipzig Mitte. At each stop, we order a round of drinks and starters as a group, taste together, and talk about what's actually on the plate, the region it comes from, the ingredients, the story behind it.

By the end of the meetup, you'll know the difference between a North Indian and South Indian menu, what "authentic" actually means in this context, and exactly what to order next time you walk in alone.

What you'll walk away with:

  • A feel for regional Indian cuisines and what sets them apart
  • Honest answers to questions like "is this actually how it's supposed to taste?"
  • A small, friendly group of fellow curious humans

Budget:
Maximum €20 per person across all stops for food and drinks. We'll coordinate orders as a group to make the most of it and keep it fair.

A heads up on dietary needs:
Indian food commonly contains nuts, dairy, and gluten. If you have severe allergies or follow a strict vegan or vegetarian diet, some dishes may not be shareable with the group — you're absolutely still welcome, but your experience and costs may differ slightly from everyone else's.

Practical stuff:

  • Small group, so it stays intimate and fun
  • You pay for what you order, coordinated as a group
  • A voluntary donation at the end is welcome to makeup for Meetup app fees
  • No food expertise needed. Just bring your appetite and your questions.
