Paddle the Bashakill! Sunday, May 19th at 12 pm

We will visit the Bashakill Winery across the street after the paddle.

One of the greatest marsh lands in the Northeast!

You must bring or rent your own kayak. We do not provide kayak rentals.

This will be a leisurely paddle with time spent exploring and observing nature. Bring your camera and binoculars. The 2,400-acre Bashakill Wildlife Management Area is a bird conservatory, and overflows with flora and fauna and wildlife. It is home to eagles, herons, moorhens, osprey, bowfins, bass, damselflies, butterflies, muskrats, turtles, and beavers. Over 200 birds have been documented here.

A thriving wetland in the summer and fall and a six mile shallow lake in the springtime, the Bashakill is a nature lover's paradise. The Bashakill Wildlife Management Area is located on the Orange County-Sullivan County border, nestled between the Shawangunk Ridge and the Mongaup Hills, about three miles south of Wurtsboro.

Estimated Paddle Time: 2-3 hours

Special Gear / Requirements: Kayak, paddle, lifejacket, bug spray, binoculars, camera, sunscreen.
