Minnewaska - 6.6 mi hike - great views!!! -Robibero Winery & music after

**Robibero Winery is 15 minutes from the park. They have food and music starts 2PM. They have also have beer and other beverages avilable.
** We start hiking at 9:20AM. Please get to the park entrance no later than 8:50am or you may miss the start. Lines start forming at the park entrance paystation around 8:30am. If arriving late, just catch up.
The Hike:
The route we are taking is a mix of carriage roads and hiking trails with one very short rock scramble. We will have great views from the cliffs at Lake Minnewaska, Hamilton Point and Castle Point.
The route:
- From the Visitor's Center, head around the east side of the lake on the red trail to the cliff tops overlooking the lake.
- From the cliffs, head south on red carriage road to the end of the lake and continue up the hill to the yellow Hamilton Point Carriage Rd.
- After Hamilton Point, continue to the blue SRT trail and turn right to climb up to Castle Point. (Nice spot for lunch/snacks)
- After a short break, enter the blue Blueberry Run Trail and continue 1.6 miles to the Upper Awosting Carriage Road (UACR).
- Turn right onto UACR and take it to the lake.
- Turn left uphill to the visitor center.
Distance: approx. 6.6 miles *(5 of the miles are easy carriage roads)
Pace: a moderate 2.3 - 2.4mph pace (not slow).
Elevation gain: Approx. 1,000 feet
Difficulty: rocky trails; one short rock scramble
Gear: Appropriate footwear; poles may be helpful for some people; water; lunch/snacks
