We start up the trail at 6:40am. Sunrise is 7:17am. You may just need headlamp for half the uphill climb.

** For those looking for additional hiking mileage after Popolopen, both Bear Mtn. and Anthony's Nose trailheads are two miles away.

The hike:
We start hiking up at 6:40am. This will be a short hike just to experience the sunrise from a great viewpoint at the stone memorial to military members who have passed. You'll have a great view of Anthony's Nose and the Bear Mtn. Bridge.

The route:
- From the small parking area on Mine Road, walk west 100' to the trail kiosk.
- Take the blue Timp-Torne Trail up to the summit.
- Return to cars via the same route.

Distance: approx. 1.5 miles
Difficulty: moderate 2.2 - 2.3mph pace
Elevation gain: Approx 800 feet
Time: approx 1.5 hours which includes the stop at the summit.
Map: NY-NJ Trail Conf. Map #119; Avenza map app; or similar mapping systems.
Gear: headlamp. water, snacks. Layers for changing temps. . Poles may be helpful for some.
