Details

Starting at the Upper Works trailhead, the trail winds its way along Calamity Brook to Flowed Lands at a gentle grade. After Flowed Lands, we will turn to the northwest, following Herbert Brook and starting our ascent to the summit of Mt. Marshall (4,373 ft). The ascent gains ~ 1700 ft of elevation in just over a mile.

Elevation gain: ~ 3,200 ft

Everyone will go on the waitlist, until I confirm that you've done similar length hikes, with comparable EG , in early winter conditions. Once you RSVP "Yes", private message me if you'd like to discuss lodging details, or we can meet at the trailhead.

REQUIRED GEAR (MINIMUM)
Hiking boots; non-cotton wicking clothing; enough food/water for the duration of the hike; insulating top and rain jacket (just in case), and layers for temperatures in the single digit with the wind chill; first aid supplies; GPS with appropriate trail junctions, turn-off points, summit locations, etc.; headlamp with extra batteries, Microspikes, poles, hat , gloves. Although snowshoes aren't required yet, bring them just in case.

NOTE: You are responsible for bringing appropriate gear, supplies, clothing, first aid, and lights. You should review topographic maps and trail features carefully; understanding topography of any hike is key to your knowing where you are, where you're going, and how to get back.
