**Rock Wall Pub is in the nearby Village of Cornwall and is a great spot for food and drink after the hike.
The hike:
We start up the trail at 9:15am. Please arrive a bit earlier and be ready. Pace will be a moderate 2.1 - 2.2mph. **No sweeper following last hiker(s) so please review the route. We will have some very nice viewpoints from the ridge. **Not recommended for a first-time hiker. Hikers who choose to hike slower or faster than the main group must be able to find his/her way on the route.
The route:
- From the parking lot, walk east on the road 800' to the white trail.
- Follow white uphill 1.5 miles to the red trail.
- Turn right onto red and take it for about 300 feet.
- Turn left onto Orange and go .5 mile to white Sweet Clover Trail.
- Turn right and take white to the easter ridge.
- Turn left onto yellow Jessup Trail. Continue to stream.
- Turn right at the stream to continue on yellow for one mile..
- Turn left onto the red Otterkill Trail.
- Turn right onto white trail and head downhill to road.
- Turn left at road to return to cars.
Distance: Approx. 6 miles
Elevation gain: approx. 1,900'
Difficulty: Long uphill to start; Rocky trails; short rock scrambles.
Map: NY-NJ Trail Conference Map #114; Avenza mapping app; or similar mapping system.
Gear: moisture-wicking clothing; water; poles may be helpful; appropriate footwear; snacks; sunscreen.
NOTE: You are responsible for bringing appropriate gear, supplies, clothing, first aid, and lights. You should review topographic maps and trail features carefully; understanding topography of any hike is key to your knowing where you are, where you're going, and how to get back.
