Bear Mt and West Mountain

Hike up Major Welsh to AT Take AT over West mountain and return on the SBM. On the way park we will be hiking through doodle town and some of the old cemeteries.

Park at Bear Mountain Inn parking lot. There is a charge to park.

Distance: Approx 8-10 miles
Elevation 2k feet
Duration: Approx 4 hrs (includes breaks)

Gear: clothing for changing temps; water; snacks/lunch, appropriate footwear

We are start early because the Catskills were very crowded last week and we want to beat the crowds. This is a bushwack so it may not be as populous as other more famous hiking venues. Please arrive early.

NOTE: You are responsible for bringing appropriate gear, supplies, clothing, first aid, etc. You should review topographic maps and trail features carefully; understanding topography of any hike is key to your knowing where you are, where you're going, and how to get back.
