Here at Harlem Writers United, we believe everyone has a story. Whether fantastical and pulled from your imagination - or spurred from your own history - we believe in your potential to tell your tale. We are a collective of writers, predominantly from industry-underrepresented backgrounds across many lines of identity, who believe an inclusive and supportive environment where reading as learning, peer knowledge sharing, and focused critique are equally - if not more - beneficial than your average MFA program. We believe that writing does not have to be a solo activity - by writing together we build our capacity to grow within our craft and discover our unique voice.
Harlem Writers United is an inclusive, welcoming environment for writers of all genres and levels of ability. We are dedicated to growing our craft, writing our stories, and discovering our voices. We pride ourselves on equitable participation practices, including a give-and-take, to ensure all writers have equal access to critique. Attendees under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian with them.)
