Azure DevOps Duet

Welcome to Azure DevOps Duet, a tale about how a development team and an operations team have to bond together and start using Azure DevOps for SQL Server related deployments.

This session will cover the process of developing a CI/CD process, starting the process of getting the team on board, and ending with making an actual release.

We will discuss:

• the challenges of implementing DevOps
• setting up a database solution project
• getting started with source control
• testing your database releases using tSQLt
• setting up your Azure Devops pipelines

After this session, you will have the tools and knowledge to get started with DevOps and get your development process to the next level.

Speaker Details:
Kevin Chant is a Lead BI & Analytics Architect originally from the UK and now living in the Netherlands. Currently Microsoft Data Platform MVP and Microsoft Certified Trainer.

He has had many years of experience in the IT sector, and has supported databases for companies in the top 10 of the fortune 500 list.

In addition to his SQL Server experience he also has a fair few Microsoft Certifications, and was probably the last ever person in the world to gain the MCSD Azure Architect certification.

He has many real-life experiences with SQL Server and Azure Devops and is currently the SQL Server product Owner of around 1,900 instances. In addition, he has made many community contributions for the Data Platform Community, with the last being one of the organizers of the online DataWeekender conference.

Sander Stad works for Data Masterminds and is a SQL Server DBA with over 15 years of experience in IT. He has worked with SQL Server since version 2000 and is a Cloud and Datacenter Management (CDM) MVP.
He is a huge PowerShell enthusiast and will try to automate processes as much as he can.
