Trunk-Based Development - a fireside chat with Paul Hammant and Thierry de Pauw

Details

Thierry and Paul will be hosting an informal chat for attendees at Hymans Robertson's Edinburgh Office. Fans of Trunk-Based Development (TBD) would come and vote on suggested topics that are up for discussion and participate in the discussion.

Paul has been talking and blogging about TBD for 15 years, has experienced immense monorepos, runs https://TrunkBasedDevelopment.com and has a book out of the same name.

Thierry has a famous talk "Feature Branching Considered Evil" that fills each room he presents in, and his own materials on TBD - https://thinkinglabs.io.

Topics: TBD, GitHub-Flow, monorepos, modern build technologies, high-throughput realities, CI, CD, branch by abstraction, feature flags/toggles, test pyramid, speedy test automation strategies, service virtualization, application strangulation and more

"Be nice" is the placeholder code of conduct for now - enumerated replacement to come.

7 pm is kick off, social chit chat for the 30 mins before that. We will record audio for the event and get that out as a podcast if you can't make it.

COVID-19 safety measures

Event will be indoors
The event space is a tall room that has doors to the outside (five floors up). Given Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) is airborne, those doors may be open to boost the fresh air in the room, diluting the virons if they are unfortunately present. If you are sick or not fully recovered from Covid19 or influenza, please don't come. Some attendees may be in a masks, some not.
The event host is instituting the above safety measures for this event. Meetup is not responsible for ensuring, and will not independently verify, that these precautions are followed.
