Yub Nub!
Welcome Star Wars fans and newbies, do you wish you could relive the magic of watching the original Star Wars movies in the theaters in late 1970s and early 1980s? The Star Wars Special Editions were released in 1997 with many changes by George Lucas and company, but the original theatrical editions were never released again since Laserdisc and VHS versions (a DVD was later released but had a bad transfer from Laserdisc), and since then there have even been more changes done in the official DVD, Blu-Ray, and even Disney+ editions, but no high definition version of the theatrical editions were ever produced. There were many changes done such as adding many additional CGI affects, changing Anakin Skywalker's ghost to Hayden Christensen, and the removal of two songs Lapti Nek (by Max Rebo Band) and Yub Nub (by the Ewoks). Would you like to see the original theatrical editions in high quality? Well good news, a team of people lead by Harmy has made the "Despecialized Editions" by scanning original 35mm film prints, cleaning them up, and color correcting using the 4k Blu-ray and other sources, along with much done to preserve the original audio. Read more about it here or watch this video about it, but we will be playing a 4K UHD version of Return of the Jedi Despecialized Edition for us to watch together.
Feel free to come in costume or other gear, and bring some snacks or drinks to share. The movie will start at 1:15, and we will have some games, trivia, and time to chat afterward.
