When people speak of the "Chelsea Art District", they usually are referring to West Chelsea, particularly the section between 10th and 11th Avenue, where the galleries are most densely packed. But East Chelsea also has galleries (although not nearly as many), as does the neighboring Flatiron District. Let's explore some of them.

On this tour, there will be five stops (selected by the host after previewing them in person). Here is some of what we'll see:

- a show about the art in the world's oldest active Buddhist monastery (founded in the year 996).

- works by nine important women painters, in a very small gallery that I had quite a bit of trouble finding.

- a Chinese artist's weird but intriguing paintings. They are done in a classical style (Northern European Renaissance) but with some strange contemporary elements (such as... video game characters??).

IMPORTANT:

- After paying online, please check your credit / debit card account to make sure the transaction went through.

- RSVP on Meetup is optional and does NOT reserve your spot or lock in the price. Please use the blue Ticketleap or Paypal link above.

- Emergency contact for "day of" is (917) 680-0656 if you are late or lost. The voicemail greeting will list our first one or two stops. For all other info, send an "old-fashioned" text directly to my number. Do NOT attempt to reach me via email, Meetup, Ticketleap or any other Internet-based channel, as those methods are not reliable on my phone.

- If you have bought a ticket but cannot attend, you have two options. To get a credit toward a future art tour or walk, notify me via direct (not Internet-based) text, voice call, or voicemail. This must be done BEFORE the listed start time so that the group does not get stuck waiting for you. Alternatively, you can send someone in your place; at check-in, simply have him or her mention the name under which you paid.

- Sorry, no refunds unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled.

- The tour will last two to three hours. Afterward, we may go somewhere nearby for drinks, food and socializing if there is interest.

- Art novices are welcome, as are people with extensive art backgrounds.

- This event was created specifically for members of my Meetup groups and private email lists, their guests, and special invitees.

- Please note that the total RSVP count includes people coming from other Meetup and non-Meetup groups. It is manually updated every 12 - 48 hours and is NOT an arbitrary number. However, also remember that "no-shows" can never be accurately predicted.
