[FYP] Onion Creek Trail Hike at Mckinney Falls State Park

Join us for a refreshing outdoor adventure as we hike the full length of the scenic Onion Creek Trail at McKinney Falls State Park!

This 5.3 KM loop winds through shady woodlands, peaceful meadows, and along the beautiful Onion Creek, offering plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife, enjoy natural rock formations, and take in the fresh air. The trail is mostly flat and rated as easy to moderate, making it a great fit for a wide range of hiking experience levels. We'll keep a steady but relaxed pace, with a few water breaks along the way.

• Meeting Location: Mckinney Falls Visitors Center
• Distance: ~5.3 M loop. See all trails
• Duration: Approx 1.5-2 Hours
• Difficulty: Easy to moderate
• Trail Surface: Dirt, gravel, rocky sections — wear sturdy shoes!

Recommended to bring.

• Water (at least 1–2 liters)
• Comfortable hiking shoes
• Sunscreen and a hat
• Snacks or a light lunch for the halfway point
• Optional: Trekking poles, camera for the beautiful scenery!

Important Notes:

• There is an entrance fee to McKinney Falls State Park ($6 per adult). Please note the park does sell out on the weekends. Its highly recommended you get tickets in advance.
• The trail can get sunny in open sections — be prepared for Texas weather!
• Rain cancels the hike (check for updates the morning of).

After the Hike:
For anyone interested, we’ll head to a nearby spot for a casual group hangout and refreshments!
