Late Summer Wildflower Walk

Details
Come join us for a 2.0-3.0 mile walk with a hundred feet of elevation gain along the way, starting at the Sutherland Drive entrance to Walnut Creek's Shell Ridge Open Space. We will be walking on unpaved service roads and trails for most of the time. Our pace will be moderate with plenty of time to stop and look around, take pictures and talk. The hike will last until about noon and there are no bathrooms in the open space. Rain cancels the walk.

We'll see flowers and great views. Bring your camera and record what you see. If you have a magnifier to see small details on flowers, bring that. Don't forget to wear comfortable hiking shoes and a hat that shades your face and neck. Bring drinking water. Sun screen to protect exposed patches of skin is a good idea.
Driving directions: From downtown Walnut Creek, drive out Ygnacio Valley Road to Walnut Blvd. Turn right on Walnut Blvd. and drive approximately 1.45 miles to Walnut Heights school on the left. Continue 0.2 miles past the school to Sutherland Drive - the third street on the left after the school. Park in the parking lot at the end of Sutherland.
