I came across another interesting open lecture at Stanford University and thought this one could be especially appealing if you enjoy literature, history, or thoughtful conversations 🙂
This talk is part of the Slavic Colloquium and will be given by Irina Reyfman (Columbia University). It focuses on Leo Tolstoy and his lesser-known work on early Russian history — exploring how he tried to make sense of the past, historical change, and the forces that shape society.
Even if you’re not deeply familiar with Tolstoy or Russian literature, this is a great chance to step into a different intellectual world, hear a fresh perspective on history and storytelling, and experience a Stanford academic setting. It’s less about knowing the subject in advance and more about being curious and open to new ideas.
As always with these kinds of events, one of the best parts is the people you’ll meet. It’s a great opportunity to connect with others who are interested in culture, books, history, and meaningful conversations — people who enjoy going a bit deeper than small talk.
it’s a great chance to come, explore something new, and maybe meet someone who shares your curiosity. Feel free to join solo or bring a friend — these events are usually very welcoming and easygoing.
