Hello Everyone-

Ok, folks, maybe the third time is the charm! Since we had such a low RSVP count, rescheduling to May 7!

Welcome to the several newer members of the group! We are very happy to have you. :)

This group has 3 purposes:

1.) To provide support to those (or their loved ones) who may be going through harrassment at work. Because bullying can be such an isolating experience, it helps to know that others have been there or are going through it as well. (You are not alone!)

2.) To provide practical advice on how to alleviate bullying, if you (or a loved one) are being bullied at work. This includes discussing what resources might exist to protect you, such as State, Federal Laws, EEO, EEOC, Whistleblowers, ADA, etc., as well as discussing the best way to handle your specific situation. This is not legal advice (as we have yet for a lawyer to join the group (that I know of)...although we'd love to have someone like that join), but advice that others who have learned what to do or NOT do, "the hard way."

3.) Bully-proofing yourself for the future. There may be things that you do (consciously, or subconsciously) that draws bullies to you. Learn how to break those habits that might be compounding your situation. For me, it was my submissive body language, tonality, and being too agreeable (people pleaser), when the bully bosses (I had two!) kept piling those work assignments on me- while my coworkers easily skated through the day with not much to do, I was chained to my desk and even had to stay late without getting paid. I learned how to communicate more assertively in the workplace, so that should never happen to me again.

This meeting will be a compilation of the above, depending on the needs of those who come to the meeting. :)
