WWDC 2017 Build and Run Mike Sanderson, Lead iOS Engineer at Raden

Coming the Monday after WWDC 17, this talk will present the results of first attempts to use some new APIs. Based on early reports and firsthand attempts to use new techniques in real-world environments, we’ll look for any hidden pitfalls, surprising catches, or unmentioned benefits.

Mike Sanderson (https://twitter.com/_mikesand) has been a member of iOSoHo since 2014 and is currently Lead iOS Engineer at the smart-luggage maker Raden (https://www.raden.com).

Evolving Mobile Applications with Continuous DeliveryCassie Shum, Lead Mobile Engineer at ThoughtWorks
Rebecca Eakins, Developer at ThoughtWorks

The mobile ecosystem is constantly changing. When building enterprise mobile applications, we need to make decisions about what platforms to support, should it support fully native features, time to market, etc. With continuous delivery, how can we effectively evolve our mobile applications after making these key decisions to keep up with the pace of the market?

In this talk we will cover how we can continuously adapt and improve in many different aspects of mobile development which will cover areas like usability, testing, and monitoring. The continuous feedback loop of rapidly delivering mobile apps and putting those in the hands of customers gives us the ability to learn, adapt, and make more advanced applications.

Cassie Shum is leading mobile in North America and is based in New York. For 7+ years at ThoughtWorks, she has primarily been leading and developing in a variety of mobile projects and also a wide range of other technologies and architectures including event driven systems and microservices. Cassie has also been involved in growing not only organizations in the delivery practices and organizational structure, but also the new generation of technologists. She is also one of the leaders in the initiative to organize the women’s group in ThoughtWorks and is also involved in promoting more female speakers in technology.

Rebecca Eakins is a software developer and consultant at ThoughtWorks. She is passionate about iOS development and enjoys balancing customer-delighting delivery with asking “but is it great Swift?” a lot. Most recently, she has been diving into compiler optimization (static dispatch is awesome!) and memory management in Swift.
