SPEAKERS:

Viola Pirri, iOS Engineer at Weight Watchers

Title: How to build an iOS app off a dynamic API

Description: Viola will share insights on working with cross-functional teams at a company where the backend and frontend are separate. As well as experiences she has encountered while developing an app with a changing API.

Bio: Viola is an iOS engineer at Weight Watchers. After graduating with a computer science degree she began her career as a software engineer (full stack) and then moved on to be a software engineering manager. Before jumping into the iOS world in late 2015, she worked as a product manager at a financial software company. When she’s not working or volunteering with her NY Women in Tech group, you’ll find her weight lifting at the gym, doing improv and trying her hand as a DJ.

Ami Kumar, Software Engineer at GameChanger

Title: Demystifying iOS

Description: Have views and layout in iOS always been a mystery to you? This talk will explain some of the mysteries of views and go into how the main run loop of iOS apps interacts with the layout engine, for listeners who are both new to iOS or could just use a refresher on UIViews.

Bio: Ami is currently a software engineer at GameChanger Media and has been working there for over two years. She graduated from Columbia University in 2015 with a major in Computer Science and began iOS development two years ago. Her passions outside of work include music and dance, and when she's not at work, you will probably find Ami at a dance class or a dance social.
