Details

Join us Tuesday, February 27th for our first meetup of 2024. Come celebrate and enjoy networking with your twin cities peers, and of course enjoy some snacks. Be ready for some interesting discussions with our first time sponsor HYPR.

Agenda

HYPR: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Passkeys But Were Afraid to Ask
Overview: It’s time to get serious about passkeys! Here’s your chance to get up to speed and find out what all the excitement is about. Passkeys come from the FIDO Alliance. We’ll learn who they are and why they started. And bonus: you’ll even get a chance to meet some of their members. We’ll help you sort out all of the FIDO specifications like FIDO2 vs. UAF and U2F. Then we’ll focus on FIDO2 credentials, which are now officially called “passkeys”. We’ll dig into various types of passkeys and what use cases they solve. Finally, to hopefully make it stick, we’ll walk through a demo of implementing passkeys into a simple web application using open source tools that are accessible to anyone.
Presenter: Peter Stromquist
Pete is a Staff Solutions Engineer at HYPR. He’s had almost 9 years of experience in identity, most of them at Auth0 / Okta. His background is software engineering and architecture, with gigs at places like Target, Thomson Reuters, and Magenic (now Cognizant).

TCIAMUG Panel Discussion: FIDO from the trenches
Overview: Come hear responses to tough questions from local IAM practitioners from General Mills, Medtronic, Target, US Bank, and Wells Fargo who have actually had experience implementing FIDO in their enterprise. Some have deployed FIDO to their employees while others have done it with customers. It will be interesting to hear all of the different perspectives. As a participant, you’ll get the chance to ask them your own questions.

Moderator: Bojan Simic, Co-Founder and CEO at HYPR, Bojan’s vision for the elimination of shared secrets and his experience in authentication & cryptography serves as the underlying foundation for HYPR technology and company strategy. Previously, he served as an information security consultant for Fortune 500 enterprises in the financial and insurance verticals conducting security architecture reviews, threat modeling, and penetration testing. Bojan has a passion for deploying applied cryptography implementations across security-critical software in both the public and private sectors. Bojan also serves as HYPR’s delegate to the FIDO Alliance board of directors, empowering the alliance’s mission to rid the world of passwords.
