When: June 17,[masked]:45 PM

Meetup Description: Hi All
The next meeting is scheduled for next week on Wednesday June 10th in Bellevue at the Newport Way Library. The July 14th meeting is also now on the calendar so you can RSVP for either or both. We will primarily discuss the stock market outlook and a list of possible purchase candidates. IBD still shows the market in a confirmed rally and purchasing leading stocks at their proper buy points is very appropriate.
The S& P 500 has run up 40% from the March lows which is very quick by historical standards. Apparently the money managers(primarily the "quants") who lost the most in 2008 were short of their equity allocations and moved into the market in March. They were followed by the value players who were afraid they would be left behind. The longer term "shorts" covered next. Defensive positions began to unwind next as sector rotation has taken hold.
Six times the Dow has risen 27% in a year, it rose another 25% in the next year. In the 4 cases where the S & P 500 was up 40% as a recesssion ends it takes 8 months to reach it. We are there now!! Have we already had the comparable 2003 surge? Is 2004 just around the corner? A lot of people think so!!
What do I think? Are we in a new bull? Cyclical-Secular? Do we have another big shoe to drop? I will share most of it at the meeting but my reading of the[masked] and[masked] bear market charts tells me we are right on schedule. I will post the comparative charts in the files at IBD.Meetup.com/2/ for your review before the meeting. Watch for an e-mail that they are up.
Also we have a celebrity in our midst!! Member Tor Langestater and his family business is featured in a NY Times article focused on people venturing back into the stock market. The Times reporter called me for ordinary investors to interview for the article. I gave him 3 names from our Eastside Meetup group. I will forward a link to the article in a separate e-mail. Congrats Tor and Einar..
IBD will present their Level 1 introductory workshop on June 6th in Portland and June 26th in Seattle. See investors.com for more information. These are a great opportunity for newer investors to get a capsule size version of the CANSLIM research methodology. When you register mention you are a member of this IBD Meetup and get a 1/2 price rate. They pack a lot in for the $49.
Please RSVP-ASAP for our meeting!! Directions and information about the location is available by clicking on the link below.

What we do in the meeting-
The meeting is scheduled to start at 6:45 pm but I usually have the doors open by 6:00pm. You are welcome to come early to socialize or network with others in the group. We need help setting up tables and chairs before the meeting and tearing them down and stowing them at the end of the meeting. Your help is appreciated.
The meeting usually begins with introductions and a listing of questions or topics members of the group want covered at the meeting. I will present a stock market review. I will be prepared to discuss my recent and current stock picks. I am inviting other members who use the CANSLIM research methodology to help too.
You are invited to share your CANSLIM stock picks or ideas from your holdings or watch list for analysis at the meeting as well. We usually have a special presentation on some basic and advanced IBD portfolio management techniques. I always try to leave you with one or more stocks that I think may turn out to be a good investment in the next few days.
Some of you will want to participate in the discussion, and we encourage it ,but you may also just listen. I f you would like to send me questions or topics you wish covered at the meeting in advance please send them to me by e-mail.
Anyone interested in sharpening their investing knowledge and skill should attend. Newcomers are always welcome. I suggest you look at some of the basic educational materials free at www.investors.com or jump into William O'Neils books ,How to Make Money In Stocks and the The Successful Investor, in order to avoid being lost at the beginning of the meeting. As time goes on,you will learn advanced stock picking, trading and portfolio management techniques. You will also meet others who are trying to be their own portfolio manager or independent trader.
