IBM Z - Application In-place Infrastructure Optimization
Agenda highlights:
Session Title: “The Modern Mainframe Manifesto”
Description: We are at an inflection point for IBM Z. For the first time in over a quarter century, we are poised to bring the system into the front of everyone’s mind once again. All the signs point to it. There is a development fatigue with Cloud Architectures. Everyone is worried about data breaches. Developers are hungry for an environment that handles the hard problems associated with latency, performance and security. At the same time, technology is making it easier to manage z/OS resources and the developer experience is aligning with cloud and distributed environments. This session will connect the Services, DevOps and automation advances happening today showing that IBM Z is poised to be the premier Cloud platform of the future.
Presenter: Frank De Gilio, Distinguished Engineer, CTO of Mainframe, IBM Systems
Session Title: “Are your IBM Z Health Checks Overdue? Analytics Driven Tuning and Optimization in an API World”
This is a joint session presented by IBM Systems Lab Services and HostBridge Technology Inc. The session reviews how CICS applications are at the core of many digital transformation strategies. However, desktop macros, RPA bots or hybrid apps often over-consume CICS resources. IBM Systems Lab Services consultant Steve Goedde provides a high-level overview of a Lab Services CICS health check and highlights key critical optimization tuning recommendations most often identified. Next, Russ Teubner from HostBridge Technology reviews how HostBridge can identify applications that are inefficiently leveraging the platform to access data stored on IBM Z.
Presenters:
Steven Goedde, Managing Consultant Engineer, IBM Z Systems Lab Services
Russ Teubner, CEO & Cofounder - HostBridge Technology Inc.
Session Title: Application and Modernization on IBM Z Leveraging IBM ADDI
Many clients have been users of the mainframe since the outset and have thousands of lines of application code that they have developed over the years. They would like to modernize this code but don't know how. Let us tell you about IBM Application Discovery and Delivery Intelligence (ADDI), IBM's analytical platform for application modernization. It uses cognitive technologies to analyze mainframe applications and quickly discover and understand inter-dependencies of changes. We will also take you through various resources available to assist you in your modernization effort.
Presenters:
Kathy Hubbley, Manage IBM Z/SW Lab Services and AIOps Acceleration Team
Daniel Moshief, zOS Lab Services Specialist
Session Title: Creating Unity Between Your Application Teams and Z SMEs in a Truly Hybrid World
With rapid adoption of complex hybrid cloud applications spanning mobile devices, public cloud and on-premises environments, an application-centric view has never been more critical to quickly isolating application issues and avoiding war rooms. Until recently, APMs have had minimal visibility into application components running on IBM Z. What typically appears is a mainframe black box with no information, so cloud application owners have no idea what is going on, and as a result, they end up pointing fingers at the Z SME, who is then responsible for diagnosing the problem. The last thing teams working in a complex IT environment need is more downtime due to these communication and knowledge gaps. Ideally, modern APMs should allow anyone, regardless of application expertise, to diagnose and isolate issues across an entire IT environment within minutes, not hours or days. Until now, this wasn't possible. In this presentation, you’ll hear specific use cases and learn how IBM Z APM Connect bridges a knowledge gap to create unity among all application owners in an effort to provide true end-to-end application visibility within Instana and AppDynamics.
Presenter: Nicole Nemic, Lead Product Manager, IBM Z APM Connect
