Learn about PowerAI as a platform for Deep Learning
Details
We are really pleased to announce the date of our first Meetup for the IBM PowerAI Munich group.
Listen to our experts how they are using Deep Learning as part of their daily business and how NVIDIA and IBM are working together to build a Deep Learning perspective.
Our Agenda:
17:30-18:00 Arrive
18:00-18:15 Intro via IBM & TechData
18:15-18:35 Evolution of PowerAI (IBM, Scott Soutter)
IBM PowerAI improves data scientist productivity, enhances the capability of deep learning applications through better cluster performance and larger model support, and simplifies the process of bringing deep learning and AI in to production. In this discussion Scott Soutter, Global Offering Manager for PowerAI will speak to the evolution of this platform to date and provide guidance around future innovations IBM is bringing in to this deep learning platform
18:35-19:15 Deep Learning in action with AI Vision + live demo
(IBM, Florin Manaila)
A demo of the latest technology preview of AI Vision. Showing how image labeling, object recognition and image classification can be done very easy.
19:15-19:45 Deep Learning Demystified (NVIDIA, Ralph Stocker)
The last five years has seen an unprecedented progress in Artificial Intelligence research. Neural Networks, which were perceived as a failed experiment of Machine Learning research, not only are successfully solving a wide range of everyday problems but in many cases significantly exceed human performance. The goal of this talk is to help to understand which problems can be solved with Deep Neural Networks today and equip the audience with tools to assess the feasibility of their own projects.
19:45-20:15 Utilizing GPU Technologies and Frameworks in order to accelerate data analytics (Volkswagen Data Lab, Abraham Duplaa)
One of the largest challenges with ‘Big Data’ is how to handle data effectively and in a timely manner. GPUs are proven to be a viable solution in handling data and accelerating many facets of data analytics including the processing, analysis, and visualization of big data. However, even though many steps in the data science work-flow can be accelerated by using a GPU assisted architecture, there still exists a bottleneck when copying data to different frameworks. In this talk, we explore GPU technologies as well as pygdf, a GPU framework, to minimize data copying, minimize training times, and effectively accelerate data science.
20:15 Wrap up and get together, followed by refreshment
Further Information:
Explore the benefits of using open source frameworks together with IBM PowerAI tools to enable a complete user-friendly Deep Learning system. Everything running on IBM's state-of-the-art platform based on Power CPU's and NVIDIA GPU's. The seminar is targeted people with an interest in Deep Learning, Machine Learning whether that interest is fueled by business or technical reasons. Our focus is more on what Deep Learning is and what you can do with it.
The presentations will be held in English.
Location:
Event venue will be at TechData, I added the address recently. Please use public transport or public parking, there is no guest parking on site available. Thanks.
