Sitemule Unplugged | 2026
No sales pitch. No playback. Just technology.
What happens when you open up the development workshop and share not just what you've built, but also the ideas, experiments, challenges, and decisions behind it?
Welcome to Sitemule Unplugged 2026 — an afternoon dedicated to technology, innovation, and the future of IBM i development.
This is not a product presentation. It's an opportunity to look behind the scenes, explore new ideas, challenge established ways of thinking, and share what we've been working on over the past year.
Expect real technology, practical demonstrations, honest discussions, and a few ideas that might challenge the way you think about IBM i.
And when the presentations are over, we'll continue the conversations over dinner.
Agenda
14:00 – Welcome
Martin Hecht Olsen
Why Sitemule Unplugged? A short introduction to the day, the format, and the idea behind opening up our development process — including the thinking, experiments, challenges, and decisions behind what we have built over the past year.
14:10 – From Rows to Reasons
Niels Liisberg
Discover how Db2 for i can move beyond traditional data storage and retrieval to become a powerful bridge between business applications and AI. Learn how JSON, REST APIs, and large language models (LLMs) can transform relational data into actionable insights, enabling smarter decision-making, intelligent automation, and AI-powered workflows — all within your existing IBM i environment.
14:30 – Revealing the True System Architecture
Niels Liisberg
Uncover the hidden architecture of your IBM i applications, including the dependencies, business rules, and relationships that have evolved over decades. Learn how to transform complex application landscapes into clear, actionable insights — reducing the risks associated with change, preserving critical business knowledge, and building a solid foundation for modernization and AI adoption.
15:10 – Break
15:25 – The Small Feature That Changed IBM i Development
Peter Donabed
Discover how one seemingly simple feature can break down the barriers between IBM i and modern development environments. See how it makes working with IBM i as intuitive and seamless as working with any other platform — unlocking the potential of modern development tools, Git integration, and AI-assisted development.
16:00 – The Benefits of AI Without the Security Risks
Jens Churchill
Harness the power of AI on IBM i without compromising security, governance, or control. Learn how to evaluate every AI interaction against your organization's security policies, ensuring AI agents can access only authorized data and perform only permitted actions. Enable AI-driven innovation while maintaining full control over your business-critical systems.
16:45 – Break
17:00 – Deploying AI Agents and Equipping Them with Skills on IBM i
Peter Donabed
Transform AI agents into capable, context-aware assistants that understand your IBM i applications, business data, and workflows. Discover how to equip AI agents with the skills and knowledge needed to perform meaningful business tasks. Empower users to create reports, dashboards, APIs, and applications simply by describing their requirements in natural language — making powerful IBM i capabilities more accessible than ever.
17:40 – Closing Remarks
Martin Hecht Olsen
A short look back at the afternoon. What did we learn during the past year? Which ideas developed in unexpected directions? What would we approach differently today? And what is currently sitting on the workbench for 2027?
We'll finish with a few thoughts on where we believe IBM i development, modernization, and AI are heading next.
17:50 – Break
18:00 – Dinner
The slides stop, but the conversation does not.
Dinner gives us time to continue the technical discussions, challenge the ideas from the afternoon, exchange experiences, and talk directly with the people behind the technology.
No stage. No playback. Just good food, good conversations, and IBM i.
Notes:
Attendance: Free of charge.
No-show policy: A fee of DKK 100 applies in case of non-attendance or cancellation after December 4, 2026.
