We are a group of software developers and network consultants who meet to discuss the business side of computer consulting. We have dinner meetings that feature speakers on both business and technical topics. Here is a sample of the topics covered at our recent meetings: marketing, taxes, presentation skills, offshore development, Ruby on Rails, and time management. Each meeting begins with an informal networking session. Dinner is included, so there is a charge to attend. Please feel free to check out our website for more information: http://www.icca-sfba.org
Here is what I propose:
- Various members volunteer to take part in the panel discussion.
- The participants decide on some subjects of interest to discuss (i.e. Recent Tech news, or specific technical problems and solutions) and prepare some talking points
- We setup a video rig at some venue (maybe at the Oakland Chamber of Commerce and make it open to the public?) and record an informal discussion of the topics.
- Edit the video and post to YouTube
- Promote the discussions
