Lets beat the rain and hike the Monches & Loew Lake Segments ~8mi
Details
I apologize for the late post, I have been monitoring the weather forecast and it now appears that we may be rain free until the afternoon.
Lets hike the Monches & Lowes Lakes Segments of the Ice Age Trail. This hike will be 7.9 miles long and should be good for all skill levels. A mature maple forest is the setting for much of the Monches Segment, the Lowes Lake Segment highlights the Oconomowoc River valley while passing though wooded terrain and a large, scenic meadow.
Please bring water for hydration and possibly a snack as I am estimating hiking time will be between 2.5 and 3.0 hours.
Dogs are welcome to attend
Although totally optional, it is becoming a nice custom after our hikes to continue socializing and grab a burger, beverage/beer before heading home.
***You will not need a WI Parks Sticker for parking on this hike! Yay! ***

Logistics: Segment hiking is not out and back so we will need to shuttle cars a few miles (Doesn’t take very long if everyone arrives on time). For this hike we will all meet at the Loew Lake Emerald lot. We will need a few volunteers (depending on how many people we have) to help with shuttling to the Monches Kilbourne lot. We will start the hike immediately from there.
If you are running late send me a message to my cell phone -847-612-6363 before 9AM. THANK YOU!
****If you are not there at 9:15 AM when we take a headcount you will miss the shuttle
A FEW IMPORTANT NOTES (Please read):
• Please dress appropriately for these hikes. It’s important for your safety and comfort. Do not wear denim jeans, try and avoid cotton (unless you like to be dripping wet and never want to dry off), wear hiking shoes or boots and good hiking socks. If you have not been hiking lately and think that because you walk 5-6 or more miles in your tennis shoes and jeans around town just fine, and that those will be ok for these hikes, you will be sorely mistaken…literally. We need to hike as a group since we are shuttling cars. If you are not dressed appropriately you could wind up being very uncomfortable for the bulk of the hike and could slow down the entire group. Plus we want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable experience. Please refer to this link for appropriate hiking clothing and footwear (scroll to the bottom): https://goo.gl/uIcjEM
Thanks.
