What we’re about

ICE Police are a problem!

Communities across the country are organizing rapid response networks to support neighbors during immigration enforcement activity. These groups help people stay informed, know their rights, respond calmly, and connect with trusted local resources when ICE activity is reported.

The intention of this Meetup is to bring together organizers, volunteers, technologists, legal observers, advocates, and concerned residents from different cities who want to:

  • Start a local rapid response group
  • Strengthen or modernize an existing network
  • Share lessons learned, tools, and best practices
  • Coordinate safer, faster, and more accurate community alerts
  • Reduce fear through preparation, clarity, and mutual support

What we do
Meetings focus on practical, real-world needs, including:

  • How rapid response networks work in different cities
  • Responsible information sharing
  • Volunteer coordination and role definitions
  • Community safety, privacy, and legal considerations
  • What not to do during enforcement activity

This is a learning and collaboration space, not a protest planning group. We focus on preparedness, communication, and community care.

Technology & tools
Many groups struggle with fragmented tools (group texts, spreadsheets, social media, phone trees). Part of this Meetup explores how technology can support not replace human networks.

One of the tools we ll look at is IceAlert, a community-focused alert and mapping platform designed to:

  • Share time-sensitive reports responsibly
  • Notify nearby community members via SMS
  • Display alerts on a live map

Participants are welcome to see demos, test features, and give honest feedback. There is no obligation to use any specific tool critical discussion and improvement ideas are encouraged.

Who should join

  • People starting or running rapid response groups
  • Volunteers or coordinators
  • Legal observers and community advocates
  • Technologists interested in civic or safety tools
  • Anyone committed to supporting immigrant communities

No prior experience is required. Respect, confidentiality, and good-faith participation are expected.
What this group is not

  • Not legal advice
  • Not a space for harassment, vigilantism, or interference with law enforcement
  • Not a political campaign group

Our goal is calm, informed, community-based response that prioritizes safety and dignity.
