Ever wonder what it is like to be on the front -lines of a search and rescue effort?
We are pleased to have Kevin Pendlebury, RN share his years of experience with Bingham County Search and Rescue (SAR). Kevin volunteers with SAR on their High Angle rescue, medical team, dive team, and as a communication lead. He is a certified advanced master diver and certified rescue diver. He is a certified EMT in with special focus on Wilderness Medicine through NOLS. He lives in Pocatello and works with Scottie at the Fort Hall Indian Health Center.
Kevin will give a 45 minute talk regarding outdoor safety and his own SAR experiences. 15 minutes will be available for questions at the end.

  • Planning: location, risk, departure time, return time. Backup plan, buddy system. Exposure and written plan
  • Clothing
  • Priorities: shelter, water food, fire
  • What to carry with you: written plan, map, compass, light, Garmin in reach/spot
  • Education: 1st aid, safety, hiking skills etc
  • How to get found
  • Personal experiences as a rescuer.
