Intro Level Rust Get-together
Details
This is an introductory-level Rust get-together.
Bring a laptop (or don't). Those who want to will install Rust and some tools (e.g., trunk) and then we'll explore code (whether you've installed Rust or not).
We'll look at BurntSushi's ripgrep because it's awesome and his level of detail in everything is something to aspire to. We'll also look at some of my code, because it's horrible and may inspire you via "if he can do it, how hard can it be?"
Another reason to look at some of my code is I have a couple of tiny proof-of-concept Rust-only web clients that demonstrate how to do some things that are traditionally done via JavaScript:
- upload, which does client-side uploads and stores them via IndexDB and
- broadcast, which allows two web pages to communicate using the Broadcast Channel API.

Cliff Matthews (aka Lazy Young Deadhead) has been programming a long time. He lost his memory in a poker game and consequently relies on Rust to have his back (since he can't remember large codebases ... or anything).
