This is an introductory-level Rust get-together.

There is not yet a set topic for the October meeting. Most likely, we'll use some publicly available source code to discuss aspects of Rust that the participants are curious about. If you have questions, bring 'em!

Cliff will add current information about this meetup for October. Below is what we did in September.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In August, we continued the exploration of Tauri that we began in July. In addition to demoing a Tauri wrapping of a web-first app, we peeked at some of the proprietary code that did an OK (but not good, much less great) job of abstracting windows so that the web-based version used pop-out web windows with the desktop Tauri version using Tauri windows. I had hoped to continue that discussion in September and show how I had evolved the abstraction to support a single-page-application mode for mobile Tauri, but I did not get that done. I did, however, create a repository where I'll (eventually) do the work. The "OK" window abstraction code is available in the creates-windows-wip branch, but is not yet called, so that branch does not yet create windows :-(

If you don't have questions yet, try checking out This Week in Rust. It's an awesome resource filled with links to articles and videos for every level of Rust programmer. The Diesel 2.3.0 release notes are of particular interest to me, because my software currently uses Postgresql as a backend, but I'll probably also want to support SQLite at least for the Android version.

Pizza and beverages will be provided. If you have a favorite beverage, let me know.

The host and speaker for this event is Cliff Matthews:
Cliff Matthews (aka Lazy Young Deadhead) has been programming a long time. He lost his memory in a poker game and consequently relies on Rust to have his back (since he can't remember large codebases ... or anything).
