Guns are a technology that have changed a lot since they were first used to revolutionize war as we knew it. Society has changed dramatically alongside them. In most rich countries the majority of citizens don’t own a gun, while in the US, the world’s largest economy, its inhabitants own nearly half of the world’s guns. Many now ask if firearms have any place in the twenty-first century.
Many communities have been shaken countless times by the violence inflicted with guns, while in other communities firearms fill a vital role in their identity. Some places allow open/concealed carry of weapons while others insist that citizens only exercise this right to defend their home or visit a range. Are firearms vital to our safety or are we shooting ourselves in the foot?
Considering personal rights, collective rights, and types of regulation, we will talk about how we should solve the riddle of the firearm.
We’ll get together in front of our screens and with coffee or other beverage in hand talk to other human beings that are as passionate as ourselves about finding answers.
Some subjects we’ll touch on:

• Gun regulations – what are they like where you live?
• When is it appropriate to use a firearm?
• What are the different kinds of firearms?
• Firearms and self-defense
• The causes of gun violence
• Is gun ownership an inalienable right?
• Other uses for firearms

Upon finishing the get-together, we will have shared our experiences and perspectives on what we should do or shouldn’t do about guns.
