When was the last time you felt truly alive? Not just entertained, productive, or comfortable, but awake with a sense of adventure, discovery, danger, mystery, or wonder?
Modern life has become incredibly convenient. We have maps so we never get lost, apps that predict what we want, food delivered to our doors, endless entertainment in our pockets, and routines designed to keep us safe, efficient, and comfortable.
But what if something has been lost along the way?
Have our lives become too organized, too predictable, too optimized? Have we traded the epic for the convenient? Are we still capable of adventure, or have we become tourists inside our own lives: watching, scrolling, planning, consuming, but rarely risking anything?
In this discussion, we’ll explore whether modern comfort has quietly made life feel smaller, and how we might recover a sense of aliveness, courage, spontaneity, and wonder without romanticizing danger or rejecting progress.
Some questions we’ll explore:
• What does “adventure” even mean in the modern world?
• Are we safer than ever, but less alive?
• Has comfort become a golden cage?
• What have we lost now that we never truly get lost?
• Are algorithms helping us discover the world, or quietly narrowing it?
• Is modern travel still adventure, or just curated experience?
• Do human beings need risk, uncertainty, and discomfort in order to grow?
• What is the modern version of the epic quest?
• How can we bring more mystery, challenge, and wonder into everyday life?
We’ll meet with open minds, good conversation, and the shared curiosity of people who suspect that life was meant to be more than comfort, screens, routines, and careful plans.
By the end of the discussion, we may not have slain any dragons, but we might better understand where our dragons have gone, and whether we still need them.
