A group discussion with invited speakers on the history of the ideas in their field.
There were many ideas that shaped our history: the invention of language, writing, agriculture, mathematics and now AI. All these events got people out of the jungle and into the comfortable cities and homes we live in now.
As we face challenges now with global warming and powerful economical swings, it's important to look back at how humanity overcame various obstacles so we can apply that knowledge to solve the new ones.
We will meet once a month to hear an invited speaker give a short lecture on one or two stories from how someone in their field overcame challenges to give us the technological or social innovations that now we take perhaps for granted. We'll discuss some of the current challenges as well and perhaps come up with new ideas on how to overcome them.
