Poetry evening - come practice Spanish
Details
Learning Spanish? Love poetry? Join me for a free cozy evening of poetry at Kaf café.
My name is Nina and I am a lover of poetry with experience in reciting organising poetry events. I'm also a Spanish teacher! Which is why I decided to bring poetry to Spanish learners :)
I've carefully selected 10+ poems to share with you:
- Original poems in Spanish with English translations
- Original poems in English with Spanish translations
We’ll explore poetry as a fun, low-pressure way to practice Spanish while sharing meaning across languages.
We’ll read, listen, and discuss together, focusing on language, rhythm, nuance, and how meaning shifts between languages. No prior poetry or translation experience is needed! All you need is curiosity.
Participants are also welcome (but not required) to bring their own poems to:
- Share aloud
- Translate together
- Or simply read and discuss
Whether you’re practicing Spanish, or just love poetry and language, this get-together is a supportive space to learn, experiment, and immerse yourself in the culture.
And after our little meetup feel free to stay with me at the poetry open mic at Kaf café.
See you!
P.S. The lovely illustration of Bukowski's Bluebird was created by Eszter Kiskovács and is used with her permission.

...and in the meantime, feel free to join Nuggets de español!
But wait, what are Nuggets de español?
Good question! It is a WhatsApp group in which I drop little nuggets about the Spanish language -- anything from tricky verbs and pronunciation tips to fun expressions and even a bit of etymology. It's completely free and will forever be free.
Most of the time I focus on Spanish from Spain, and sometimes I zoom in on how it’s spoken here in Valencia.
I used to share the link here but I got a lot of bots joining, so if you'd like to join, send me a message via WhatsApp +34 611 69 49 79 and I'll add you manually.
