Leave your gripes, worries, and anxieties behind and let's go on a hike! This meetup is for folks who enjoy the outdoors and good company. Some hikes are hard, some are pretty easy. Read more about us here in this recent article in Cary Magazine.

See all- 8:30am Sun 6/15 hike @ Umstead, Co Mill and Big Lake 7-8miUmstead Park - Reedy Creek Entrance, Cary, NC
NOTE the 8:30am start. Lets do a hike Sunday morning! Meet at the Reedy Creek entrance of Umstead State Park off of Harrison Ave. Come prepared to hike BRISKLY (but not superfast) at a 3-3.5 mph pace.
We will hike the first half of the Co Mill loop, take the MUT and Camp Road to the lakeside, maybe a bit of the social trail, then after a short break we'll return the same way. This route should be fine even after a lot of rain.
The full route will be 7-8ish miles, with shorter option for 5 miles - and that's what we'll do if rain is threatening or its too hot!
Start at 9am on the Co Mill side of the parking lot. If it is drizzling at start time I will hike, pouring rain, I will not. If required for any reason, I'll cancel by 8am. We should be back no later than 11-11:30am.
Take I-40 to exit 287, Harrison Ave, head north (left on Harrison if you are heading east on I-40, right on Harrison if you were heading west on I-40). Go straight into the parking lot.
Wear the proper attire, bring water, snacks, etc. You know the drill. No small children please, but well-behaved dogs are welcome - must be on a leash and the leash in your hand, per park rules. If I have forgotten anything, please email me.

LOBLOLLY TRAIL - - Hike starts at 9am
Lets go for a hike on Sunday morning! Meet at the Reedy Creek entrance of Umstead State Park off of Harrison Ave.
Come prepared to hike BRISKLY at a 3-3.25 mph pace. Trail will be mostly natural and MUT, and we may modify due to trail conditions.
PLEASE NOTE THE 8:30AM START. We should finish by 11-11:30am at the latest.
If it is drizzly and overcast in the morning, I will still hike, pouring rain, no. If needed I will cancel by 8:30am, so watch for that.
Take I-40 to exit 287, Harrison Ave, head north (left on Harrison if you are heading east on I-40, right on Harrison if you were heading west on I-40). Go straight into the parking lot.
Meet by the sign with maps on the right side of the parking lot near the Loblolly trailhead. I will be there right at meetup time.
