What we’re about
Leave your gripes, worries, and anxieties behind and let's go on a hike! This meetup is for folks who enjoy the outdoors and good company. Some hikes are hard, some are pretty easy. Read more about us here in this recent article in Cary Magazine.
Please know your limitations and come ready to have a good time. If you would like a hike you don't see posted, let me know! You can read about local and regional hikes on my hiking blog : [Idratherwalk.com](http://eepurl.com/dwb3pr).
Also, we can always use some new hike and event leaders - message me if you think this is something you'd like to do.
Happy hiking! LJ

- Sun 9/28 hike @ Umstead - Co Mill & Sycamore (8-9mi) - 8:30amUmstead Park - Reedy Creek Entrance, Cary, NC
Lets go on a long morning hike Sunday!
NOTE the 8:30am start
We'll hike half of the 6mi Co Mill loop, crossing the stone bridge at halfway to get on the Sycamore trail and add 2.5-3 miles from that trail. We'll make a crazy 8 loop and end up hiking back on the other end of Co Mill to finish with a total of 8-9 miles.
If you want a shorter hike, just doing the 6mi Co Mill Trail would be your option.
Come prepared to hike at a brisk 3-3.5 mph pace, with a few short breaks at road crossings. (Hiking pace is important for timing - to estimate return to the trailhead - and to provide the level of exercise you're looking for. If you're unsure of your pace, read how to figure it out here: https://idratherwalk.com/hiking-tips-beginners/.
Meet at the Reedy Creek entrance of Umstead off of Harrison Ave, at the stairs near the restroom building.
NOTE: Drizzling I will hike, pouring rain, I will not. If required for any reason, I'll cancel by 8am.
Take I-40 to exit 287, Harrison Ave, head north (left on Harrison if you are heading east on I-40, right on Harrison if you were heading west on I-40). Go straight into the parking lot.
Wear the proper attire, bring water, snacks, etc. No small children please, but well-behaved dogs are welcome - must be on a leash and the leash in your hand, per park rules. If I've forgotten anything, please email me.
