What we’re about

The IELTS Habit is a group for Toronto immigrants and foreign students who plan to take an English proficiency test to extend their periods of work, study or residency in Canada. Our goal is to foster a community for serious students of English with common future goals and do so in a fun, unrushed environment. Enjoy card and board games designed to promote writing and speaking. Increase your confidence and ability through English test preparation strategies taught by an IELTS examiner.  Our hybrid formula of strategies and practical application alternates between one Meet Up online and one live in a downtown venue, weekly.

Many may not be aware that on any given IELTS test, 80% of IELTS candidates fail to make an acceptable university entrance score, repeating the test up to 8 times.  Many also begin a short period of IELTS preparation only a few weeks or months before needing a score.  In contrast, we want to promote the IELTS Habit for those determined to succeed.

“We” are an affiliation of three entities devoted to the success of exactly the kind of people who would benefit from membership in this Meet Up group: Ontario Steam Foundation, dedicated to creating opportunities in STEM education for financially-challenged students, and now looking at how to do the same for English test proficiency; Lolart, a local prep school dedicated to foreign students bound for university; and Make Sense! Learning Games, a Toronto-based English language game company.

If you are interested, please sign up to meet our IELTS examiner!  We will be launching at the end of August and welcome you to enjoy some refreshments and check us out at our Bloor-Yorkville location.
