We’re looking for people interested in drawing as
a contemporary practice.
The sessions combine life drawing with discussion,
focusing on drawing beyond academic technique and classical representation.
After drawing from the model, we look at the works collectively and discuss how drawing functions today
– between representation, notation, performance,
and contemporary image culture.
The aim is to form a small group that returns regularly and develops a shared discourse around new ways of drawing.

Taking a cue from Ranciere’s “Ignorant Schoolamster”,
IGNORANT DRAWING begins from the suspension of the doxa: on what is a good drawing, or how to draw.
It’s not necessary to apply skill, memory, anatomy, expression, or composition in advance. Here, each line is taken as a proposal whose consequences may be accepted.
# drawing what you do not yet understand
# not correcting a line; continuing it
# when a form appears, it’s an accidental evidence
# avoiding style; repeating procedures instead
# writing beside the drawing when drawing stops
# drawing the drawing
# a drawing may become a score for another drawing
Exhibition of the drawings is part of the method.
Publication of the fragments is a drawing stretched wider.
