LYREBIRD LOOP WALK

LYREBIRD LOOP WALK

Details

THIS HIKE WILL BE LED BY CHRISTINA - local to the area and has kindly offered to host a hike so come and support her.

Everyone is most welcome to join us at Grant Picnic Ground at 1:45pm for a 2pm start on this popular walk around Sherbrooke Forest.

Towering mountain ash eucalypts, tree ferns, rainforest gullies and lyrebirds - if we are lucky will feature on this walk.

This loop is around 7km and will take us around 1.5 hours to complete and will take us around Lyrebird walk, Neumann, Paddy, Welsh and Coles Ridge tracks.

It is a Grade 2-3 walk with a 294m elevation (some steep slopes). The track is likely to be muddy and slippery in parts, so come prepared with suitable gear (poles if you use them).

We will then have a warm drink at the Grants picnic ground Cafe, for those that can stay.

It is STRONGLY recommended that you have Ambulance cover - ambulance.vic.gov.au

• Water & Snacks
• Suitable hiking clothing (rainwear & warm jacket, beanie, gloves etc)

  • Check the forecast on the day before you leave

DIFFICULTY GRADINGS
Easy – A general fitness/experience level is required for “easy” events. The distance/course may not be too demanding but must not be underestimated.
Moderate – A solid fitness/experience level is required for “moderate” events. Expect challenging distances/courses. Such events are not for everybody. Build up gradually.
Hard / Extra Hard – An advanced fitness/experience level is essential for “hard” and especially “extra hard” events. Read ALL the details of the event thoroughly before signing up. Participants must have recently accomplished similarly intense events. If you’re not sure do NOT sign up as a misguided choice will probably put yourself and the whole group at risk.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS & SPECIAL NEEDS
If you have any relevant medical conditions or special needs please advise the event leader immediately on arrival.

SAFETY & RESPECT
• During all events everyone has the right to feel safe and respected. If at any stage you experience or witness unacceptable behaviour please advise the event leader immediately.
• The event leader has the right (and duty) to prevent someone from participating in the activity if they do not have the necessary clothing, food/water, equipment or disposition to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for themselves and others.
• Please download the Emergency+ App - https://emergencyapp.triplezero.gov.au/
