What we’re about
Thank you for interest in joining Eat Drink & Be Merry (ED&BM) whose members are fun-loving adults (age 50 and beyond) interested in meeting new friends and doing what we do best -- eating, drinking, and talking (a variety of conversations at a variety of restaurant). We focus on supporting local business owners.
At this time, as a group, we do not return to a restaurant we've already enjoyed since new restaurants open almost every year and established restaurants are discovered in Peoria and surrounding towns.
Please note, membership dues each year are $20 to help offset the cost of this group. since the Meetup organization charges for groups. It is greatly appreciated when members volunteer to host events though it isn't a requirement. Those who choose to host events will receive a 50% discount their membership dues the following year. I will work with those who want to host events.
Regards,
Sheila B

For over a decade, Bistro 101 has served guests from the heart of historic Canton, with the highest standards in service and flavor. They offer an ever-evolving menu of New American comfort food that celebrates the heart of the Midwest and the soul of the season.
Property history:
The first structure built here in 1840 was the two-story brick home of Judge David Markley. In 1848, Tom Hineman, a wagon maker, took possession of the property until 1856 when Mary Dean bought the house and used it as a boarding house. Mrs. Dean was the mother of W.O. Dean, Canton’s premier cigar maker.
In 1867, Mayor Hemenover purchased the property and opened The Canton House hotel which he operated with his brother, Judge Hemenover and nephew Edwin, for many years.
In the early days, it was a stage stop in Canton; due to its proximity to the CB&Q railroad depot, it had a lively business. During the heyday of rail passenger service, twelve passenger trains passed through town daily. Some of the passengers overnighted at the hotel. The Canton House was closed in 1982.
In 1991, the main floor was opened as Georgia’s Restaurant, followed by more restaurant offerings, including the fine dining experience Palm Cafe.
On January 1, 2013, Bistro 101 opened, in this beautiful place, for dining and relaxing in The Parlor. They cater events and host privet parties.
