Dear Illinois Prairie PUG members,

The shortest month of the year is almost over, and we are looking forward to the March meetup! It will take place on March 17, and following the great success of the February talk about Postgres AI ecosystem, we will continue exploring this topic.

Speaker: Paul Whalen, PEAK6 Capital Management

Talk title: Early Learnings Building Apps on Postgres in the Claude Code Era: The Importance of the Iteration Loop

Talk Description:

In this session, Paul will share experiences he's had building applications on Postgres using Claude Code and offer thoughts about what Claude is good at, where it needs direction, and general strategies for successful agentic engineering with Postgres at the center of your app. This session is geared towards application developers or anyone who works with (or is interested in working with) coding agents for development on Postgres. There will be time for discussion and debate about best practices, so everyone can share thoughts and learn together.

About the Speaker
Paul is a Senior Staff Software Engineer at PEAK6 Capital Management, an options trading firm headquartered in Chicago, where he has spent all 10+ years of his career. He has worked across many parts of the application stack but is a lover of the data layer above all, and has made minor contributions to open source projects, including Apache Kafka and Apache Arrow.

Event location: DRW Training Center, 540 W. Madison, 25th floor.
