GMOs: What You Need to Know

Details
Join Terri Reardon of IRTKGMO at the MLK Food Justice And Sustainability Weekend's "Climate Change and A Chicago Public Food Forest." She will present GMOs: What You Need to Know on January 19th at 1pm. Reardon's presentation will explain what a GMO is and address concerns over the proliferation of genetically engineered food crops. She will also discuss loss of seed diversity and other issues related to the pesticides used in these monocrop farming practices. Of particular concern is this type of agriculture's creation of superweeds and its contribution to environmental degradation along with the devastating decline in pollinators.
The MLK weekend event runs Saturday and Sunday, January 19 & 20. The program includes workshops by leading growers, environmentalists, scientists, and social justice activists. The goal of the weekend is to provide participants with powerful tools for change and a heightened motivation to work toward a greener, more equitable and sustainable world.
All events are held at KAM Isaiah Israel, free of charge and open to the public. Visit https://www.kamii.org/mlk to register.
