We are to provide an outlook on how we migrated our clusters from Datastax 4.8.x to Apache Cassandra 3.1. This can be considered as real-life HOWTO because even though the high-level upgrade procedure is well known there are many caveats along the way. In addition, we will cover some details on the Cassandra 3.x storage engine internals changes and how this can help to get higher throughput and lower latency from existing clusters. We will dive into Cassandra repairs - which are known to be quite problematic in Cassandra 3.x and come up with our approach for this.
