The tech industry is notoriously male dominated, and the VR industry is making determined efforts to avoid the same thing happening. Join this panel of women entrepreneurs, experts and community builders as they explore issues facing women in VR and how we as a broader community can ensure a healthy ecosystem for the future.

Co-presenter bios:

Kathleen Chung is the co-founder of the open source Global Immersive Simulations Working Group (SIMS), aimed at determining what are the key elements necessary for simulations to be considered effective in VR/AR. In addition, she is the co-organizer of the VR/AR/MR Marketing and Branding MeetUp in NYC and Head of Partnerships for the Jump Into VR Fest. Previously, she was a capital markets investment banker for 8 years, most recently at UBS, and has executed over 100 deals including both IPOs and private placements across all sectors. Kathleen graduated from Wharton, with degrees in Finance and Systems Engineering.

Ashley Kircher is the co-founder and CEO of Minda, a New York-based startup that's rethinking how empathy can be used to solve everything from bias to burnout. Before starting Minda she was a product designer and web developer, specializing in user-focused enterprise data applications. She has a background in women's studies and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Sophia Dominguez is the CEO & co-founder of SVRF, the first search engine for immersive content for Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality. She also founded AllThingsVR, a weekly newsletter that highlights the best VR/AR news and content. Previously, she was the Entrepreneur in Residence at Rothenberg Ventures and was also the first person to travel the world with Google Glass and document how people reacted to seeing and experiencing it for the first time. Sophia graduated from NYU Gallatin in 2013 with an individualized B.S. degree in “How Technology Impacts Human Interaction.

Debra Anderson is Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Datavized Technologies, Inc. a NYC-based start-up building a smart way to experience smart cities using WebVR for geospatial data visualization. Anderson designed and instructs the first Digital Development: WebVR course at Parsons School of Design, School of Art, Media, and Technology (AMT), and “Stepping into VR” for the New Media Narratives program at ICP. She is the founder and organizer of the Immersive NYC Meetup and she was the co-organizer of the NY Women in VR Meetup from 2015-2017.
