Impact Investment and its benefits in Developing Nations

Details
Welcome to ImpactX’s inaugural event on the benefits of Social Impact Investment & Social Enterprise!
For our first event we will look at how social impact investment can help to resolve some of society’s most pressing social and environmental challenges as well as yielding a financial return.
Our speakers will include Ursula Rakova from Tuela Pesa and David Davies from AgriLedger: Ursula Rakova will present the harsh background story of Bougainville and Cataret Islands in Papua New Guinea including some video documentary clips. She will talk about the work that her organisation: Tulele Peisa, has been doing to enable the people of Bougainville and the islands to build a fledgling economy from virtually nothing.
Together, Tuela Pesa and AgriLedger are creating a viable small-holding farmer-owned Cocoa industry in Bougainville, building a sustainable seafood export business from the Cataret Islands to Hong Kong as well as a coconut oil industry. This is an inspiring story where a tiny forgotten island could in some ways leapfrog ahead of developed nations like Australia and become a model for other nations to follow with the help of impact investment.
EVENT SCHEDULE:
6:00pm Short Film about the Cateret Islands featuring Tuela Pesa
6:05pm Interview with Ursula Rakova
