What we’re about

impactNPO runs weekends that are a great opportunity for IT professionals to have fun, network, learn and give back to the communities!

What is it?

We get IT volunteers (you) with a wide range of skills to come in and help local charities and not for profit organisations (NPOs) with their IT challenges.

We do this through running fun, high-energy and impact weekend events. On Friday evening, NPOs do a pitch about what they do and what their issues are, then volunteers form self-organising teams around an NPO of their choice.

The teams then have a goal for the weekend to produce something useful.

What's in it for me?

First and foremost we aim to help local non-profits. NPOs often have quite a lot of IT challenges.

Through this, you may find that you meet new people from different companies or fields, find contacts if you're looking for work, or get to step outside of your comfort zone and learn something new.

Or just have a fun weekend working in a team to deliver something that is really useful to the community!

What can we expect as results for the NPOs?

This depends on you, your team and the needs of your chosen NPO!

We have run several successful weekends, and have helped NPOs with websites, office infrastructure, high IT bills, as well as general advice. For a list of our accomplishments, and the NPOs that we have helped during the past weekends, have a look here: http://impactnpo.org

What skills are useful?

We need a wide range of skills, and no qualifications are required. If you're not sure message us and we'll get back to you.

If you're in one of these areas, we definitely need you:

– Software Developers
– Graphic or Web Designers
– Ops, Infrastructure/networks and DevOps

We also may need general help during the day! For example helping with the food or photography!
