What we’re about
About the group
We’re the sweet spot between Toastmasters (very structured public speaking meetups) and full-on improv (very unstructured & fun but not always relevant to public speaking). This is a low-pressure space to practice impromptu speaking, sharpen your voice, and build stage presence—no acting experience needed.
Who this is for
Scientists, researchers, founders, and anyone who wants to communicate clearly (including folks managing social anxiety). Beginners are VERY welcome.
What to expect
- Weekly, 60-minute sessions
- Small group (max 8), so everyone speaks each time
- Playful warm-ups → improv games tailored to public speaking → supportive feedback
- Practical speaking tips you can reuse at work, in meetings, or on stage
Values
Psychological safety is key. Trying weird ideas, making mistakes, and learning out loud are the point. Judgment-free, inclusive, and especially welcoming to underrepresented voices (gender minorities, LGBTQ+, Indigenous, BIPOC, and second-language speakers).
Format
Mostly online for now; occasional in-person meetups to come.
Cost
Free or pay-what-you-can while we grow the community.
Host
Jeffrey — PhD(c) in Psychology, lecturer, and improv-informed speaking coach. Come for the games, stay for the confidence.
