This is a group for people who love to laugh and want to be around other people who find laughter exhilarating. Whether it is coming to shows, enjoying the occasional drop in class or signing up for Improv 101, Improv is for you!
What is Improv? Improv is the art of Improvisation, making everything up on the spot with no prior preparation. Sounds pretty tough right? Well, at one point in our lives each of us were master improvisers, back when we were children. Somewhere along the when we became productive members of society we forgot the magic of using our own imaginations. Lets get it back!
So what can we as adults learn from Improv?
It teaches us to be better communicators. Keenly develop your skills of listening to other people and to better work with them. Its a wonderful feeling when you go up with no idea of what to do and build something with someone else on the spot.
Many times people are just waiting for their turn to speak in a conversation. Don't be that guy. Great improv takes great listeners. Build better relationships by listening to what other people are actually saying.
Helps you think on your feet. Don't have an idea of what to do in a scene? Great! Neither does your partner, and that's okay! You will learn to trust you scene partner and that you are not in the spotlight alone!
Learn to face your fears, being in the spotlight can be tough. Am I entertaining enough? Am I good enough? What if they don't like it? Sound familiar? Everyone is judging you. Or are they? Most people don't care as much as we think they do. Our Group is a super supportive bunch of people that have all been there before. And we think it is AWESOME to see someone stand up to their fears!
Learn to deal with failure. In Improv, some scenes are great, some not so great. But, that's okay! We can learn from failure. And realize that failure is something we can grow from. Not something to be feared.
Get out of your shell. Have social anxiety? Don't know what to say in a conversation? That's cool too. This a great place to learn communication skills and interact with people in a fun and safe environment.
Most importantly, learn to enjoy yourself more. Life is too important to be taken seriously!

Jest Improv's Weekly Open Mic!
Jest Improv, 2750 East Main Street, Ventura, CA, USJoin Jest Improv every Tuesday night for our Weekly Comedy Open Mic!
For just $5, comics get 5 minutes of stage time to test new jokes, try something wild, or just work the mic. Whether you're performing or just want to soak up the laughs, it’s a fun, low-pressure night of comedy. Sign-ups at 7:30pm, show starts at 8!
The open mic will be located at 2750 East Main Street in Ventura. Once you enter the building make sure to follow the signs for the Annex!
Doors open at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Jest Improv 101 Comedy Program: Jest Start Here!

Improv is a journey. Travel with us to explore the basics and build a strong foundation so you can level-up with ease. If you aspire to become part of the performing troupe, or you simply want to gain more confidence in your own life journey, this is step one.
JEST Improv presents a 6-week Introduction to Improv class that gets you into the game and playing with the basics of Short Form Improv, helping you build a foundation for advancement through the Improv spectrum, or as a way to start listening better and thinking quicker in your everyday life.
Whether you are eager to become part of the JEST performance troupe, or just want to learn new skills and meet fun people just like you, this is the place to start.
This course will go from 1/14 - 2/18 with a showcase on 2/21. Classes will be on Wednesdays from 6:30 - 9 pm. This program is open to everyone of any skill level.
BONUS DEAL: Free admission to a Saturday/Tuesday weekly drop-in class (think: Extra practice) during your 6-week 101 class session. Wow! That’s a $15-savings each time you attend drop-in. You will be able to attend all Jest shows for free while enrolled in the program PLUS you will be able to attend any and all drop-ins for free after you sign up throughout the rest of the year (only applicable if you sign up by November 30)!

Jest Improv Presents: Impropaganda! A Live Improvised Game Show

Make sure not to miss Jest Improv's feature event: Impropaganda!
This live improvised game show features the best "competitive" improv comedy in Ventura County! Two teams will be formed to play short form games based on the theme of propaganda delivering the best fake truth they can.
With your audience suggestions they'll spin the truth to bring YOU comedy gold, and we'll see which team wins in the end to get the grand prize!
Doors open at 7:30pm. Concessions and drinks will be available. Tickets are $10 online and $15 at the door.
