Jest Improv's Stand Up 101 Program | Intro to Stand Up Comedy

Learn How to Write & Perform Your Own Material!

Jest Improv is proud to present it's very own Intro to Stand Up Comedy Program! This program is open to all skill levels, so whether you already have performed on stage before or you've never tried your own material before, this program is for you!

This course will be an introduction to the Jest Improv philosophy on stand up comedy, specifically finding your comedic voice. You will get the opportunity to learn how to write different styles of stand up, how to re-write and get notes back from your instructor to craft a well polished set. You will learn how to make your material work even better with joke structure and and craft the right punchline to land the joke even better. You will go over material with the instructor along with the class and we will all work together to make each other's sets amazing and polished.

This course will take place at the Bunker Theater in Ventura (2750 East Main Street) in our Annex space. This will be an 6-week course running on Wednesday nights from 6:30-9 pm from May 21st to June 25th. The showcase will be on June 28th @ 8 pm.
