New Date and Time:
Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 1:00pm-2:30pm
Censored Landscapes reveals the hidden truths of animal farming through La Rocca González's powerful photographs, capturing the suffering and erasure of animals' sentience and beauty. Blending essays and contributions from poets, activists, and scholars, the book offers a factual look at the inherent brutality of animal farming.
Through vivid visuals, personal narrative, and poetry, it explores the complex links between animal agribusiness, environmental harm, worker exploitation, and societal issues. Without graphic imagery, Censored Landscapes urges reflection, action, and a deeper empathy for animals.
Isabella La Rocca González, a U.S.-based photographer and writer of indigenous Mexican and European heritage, has received the Ferguson Grant from Friends of Photography. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including a solo show at the Center for Photography in Woodstock. Her creative nonfiction has been published in several journals, and her screenplay Fugue 9 was a finalist for the 2008 Sundance Screenwriters Lab.
